“UX Research: What We Can Learn From Animal Cognition Research”
This talk will focus on the challenges of studying a special type of user: nonhuman animals. Many animal cognition researchers build computer games for animals in order to test scientific hypotheses, and therefore need to be creative in the ways that they learn about the needs and motivations of their user.
Jennifer: I have worked across varying populations and species, and truly enjoy capturing a deeper understanding of each individual’s behaviors and needs. I have masters degrees from University of Lincoln, UK and Georgia State University where I studied human and animal behavior and cognition. Currently, I am a freelance UX researcher in Atlanta, GA mostly focusing on helping small businesses build websites. My talk will focus on the challenges of studying a special type of user: nonhuman animals. I’ll discuss how animal researchers get around these challenges and what UX researchers can learn from these practices.
